Montana Golf Courses

Montana borders Canada and has a very harsh winter climate. Tourism is a major part of the economy in Montana. The state is home to several national parks including Glacier National Park and a portion of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is a tourist favorite any time of the year. There are so many activities going on year round that families will be able to experience the best that nature has to offer.

Another popular site in Montana is the Battle of Little Bighorn site. This battle ground is best remembered as the place General Custer made his last stand against the Lakota and Cheyenne Nations. This battle has become an important part of military and Indian history.

Montana is home to one of the most costly courses to ever be built. The Old Works is a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course located on an old copper mine. Old Works is located in Anaconda in the southwest part of Montana. The EPA spent a reported $300 million dollars to bring this land up to construction standards. This is the only course ever built on an EPA Superfund site. Old Works is not your typical Jack Nicklaus design, the most notable difference is the black sands that line the bunkers. This is a by-product of the smelting of copper that took place in the old mines.

Other courses in Montana include Phantom Hills Golf Course and Iron Horse Golf Club.
