Mississippi Golf Courses

Most of the land in Mississippi is flat and covered by trees. Pine trees are the most common type of tree found in the state, but other varieties include cottonwood, elm and oak trees. With all of these trees it is no wonder that lumber plays a major part of the economy in Mississippi. During the summer months the temperatures can be hot and humid.
The PGA Tour plays an event in Mississippi every year, formerly the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, it has been renamed the Viking Classic. This tournament is contested over the very difficult Annadale Golf Club. Many famous designers have put their stamp on the Mississippi flood plains. One of the best courses in the state is Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. There are two golf courses located at this resort. Designed by world renowned architect Tom Fazio, these courses are always in fantastic condition.
Typical of Mississippi golf courses, the courses at Dancing Rabbit have been built on the ancient lands of the Choctaw Indians. Both courses meander their way through forests that are fed by springs that keep the landscape green and lush. The greens are bentgrass with Zoysia fairways. Other great golf courses in Mississippi include Canebrake Golf Club, Grand Bear Golf Course and Shell Landing Golf Club.
