Maine Golf Courses

Maine is located at the northern-most point of the eastern United States. The most striking thing about Maine is the rugged coastlines. These coastlines are contrasted by the forested interior of the state. With such a diverse landscape, it's no wonder people flock to Maine for rest and relaxation. Many of the beaches located in Maine are white sand beaches. These are numerous not only along the coast, but also surrounding the over 6,000 lakes and ponds of the state.
Lobster fishing put Maine on the map. All across the country people enjoy sitting down to a fine Maine Lobster dinner, in fact entire television series have been devoted to just this industry. To help facilitate this livelihood, numerous lighthouses are scattered around the coastline. These lighthouses are as much a tourist attraction for this state as Disneyland is in California.
Many of the golf courses in Maine are built around the coastal areas. This further enhances the scenic beauty of the courses. The distinctive landscape of the Maine coast gives difficult holes and spectacular views to course designs. Point Sebago Resort in Casco is carved out of the white birch forests. This course feature several doglegs and great course conditions. Other well known golf courses in the area include Sugarloaf Golf Club and Sunday River Golf Club.
