Play Golf America is a program that is being sponsored by the PGA of America and many of the major associations involved in the day-to-day operations of golf. These other organizations include the USGA, The PGA Tour, LPGA, National Golf Course Owners Association and Golf 20/20.

In just three years the Play Golf America program has grown to include events all across the country. The Southern Nevada Chapter of the Southwest Section will be hosting their Play Golf America event on June 3, 2007 at Angel Park Golf Club. This event is scheduled to run from 10am-3pm.

This event will give new golfers and those who play occasionally the opportunity to experience the passion that PGA Members have for the game of golf first hand. This event has been called a "very informal golf party" by David Stead, Director of Golf at Angel Park Golf Club. Since moving to the Las Vegas Valley Mr. Stead has taken this program under his wing and will make this day a great success.

At Angel Park during this event visitors can expect to find a number of different activities that will give them a further understanding of the game and its traditions. Mike Davis, one of the Top 100 Teachers in the country, will be on hand to give demonstrations and his philosophy on golf instruction. Joining Mike Davis will be numerous members of the Southern Nevada Chapter giving free instruction at various sites across the property. These stations will include instruction in full swing, putting and chipping.

Throughout the day there will be numerous drawings for prizes and giveaways. The Callaway Golf Center, located in Las Vegas, has graciously donated clubs to the Play Golf America Day. These clubs are going to be given away to help encourage new players to join the game. Many of the major club manufacturers will be on hand to answer any questions and allow players to test some of the latest equipment on the market. Some of the participants include Callaway Golf, Cobra, Titielist, Ping and Nike Golf.

Other events throughout the day will include a trick shot display, Ms. Nevada will be on hand to sign autographs starting at 1 pm, and Fox Sports News and ESPN will also have vans on site.

This will be a great opportunity to experience and interact with members of the PGA of America. The PGA of America is the leader in introducing new players to the great game of golf. The Play Golf America program will have events scheduled all over the country and it would be well worth the time to find out where the event will be located in your area. A full listing of the Play Golf America days can be found on their website, www.playgolfamerica.com. I hope each one of you takes the time to experience these tremendous events.

And don't forget to bring a friend!!!!!
