Golf In The Middle Of Nowhere Is Still A Great Game

Out at the California-Nevada border lies one of the greatest golf courses that Nevada has to offer, the Lakes at Primm Valley Golf Club. Just a short 30-40 minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip, but every minute of the drive is definitely worth it, if you plan on playing the Lakes.
The Lakes offers wide fairways, large greens and is always in excellent condition. While I stood there looking out over the first tee, I just couldn't get over how this beautiful golf course exists out in the middle of nowhere. All this lushness right in the middle of the desert, Tom Fazio really did wonders with the natural surroundings of the Lakes Course.
The finishing stretch of holes on the Lakes Course will definitely challenge any golfer. Water comes into play on two of the final four holes. The 15th hole is a long par-4 that features a water hazard down the left side. This is a delicate driving hole with not much landing area.
The Lakes Course at Primm Valley Golf Club has a completely different feel than many of the golf courses located in Las Vegas. As you step on the first tee, you get the sense your are playing a golf course located in South Carolina and not the Nevada Desert. The fairways are lined with all manner of trees that can either be breathtaking or devastating, depending on where you hit your golf ball.
Although there is no GPS system at the golf course, the course is well marked, and on the first tee they hand out a yardage card that will give you additional information. If you need further help, they do offer a yardage book that can be purchased in the golf shop.
The secluded nature of the golf course is a striking contrast to the active environment found in Las Vegas. You can't help but take your time and enjoy the relaxing feel of this layout. If you are staying at the resort there are still several opportunities to gamble and experience the Vegas feel on a smaller scale.
The Primm Valley Resorts are also a hot spot for world class entertainment. Buffalo Bill's Hotel and Casino has a major events center that has hosted such stars as Joe Walsh, Don Henly and Patti LaBelle.
