Painted Desert Golf Club - Las Vegas Golf CoursesA desert style golf course designed by award-winning architect Jay Morrish that features narrow fairways surrounded by natural desert terrain, Painted Desert Golf is well maintained and demands precise golf shots. Due to the “fun nature of this course and the fine facilities offered, Painted Desert Golf is ideal for outings, special events, and corporate bookings.

Painted Desert is a time tested, traditional desert style layout, and is part of the American Golf entourage of 6 golf courses in the Las Vegas valley. Located just 15 minutes north of the Strip, Painted Desert is one of the more upscale of the area’s AGC layouts, and features a beautiful clubhouse with spacious lounge and restaurant, and complete pro shop. On property is a driving range and a large putting green. Practice off grass is allowed on the range on weekends, while mats are used during the week. A Nike Golf Learning center is also on property, offering a variety of programs led by the Director of Instruction, Jim Gronnebek. Custom programs and corporate clinics are also available.

Sensible design and variety are the hallmarks of golf at Painted Desert. It offers four par 5s of 500 yards or better from the back and middle tees. The four par 3s range from 128 to 193 yards from the middle, and from 150 to 233 yards from the back. Of the nine par-4 holes, eight measure under 400 yards from the middle tees, while the back tees measure between 313 to 467 yards. The three sets of tees allow players to choose distances from 6840 to 5711 yards. With the mid-tees playing at 6323 yards, there is enough of a difference from each tee to facilitate the games of all levels of golfers.

The tee boxes are uniquely defined by bushes rising 5 to 6 feet above ground, effectively "shielding" players from the wind, and from golfers on other holes. All tee boxes are also marked to the center of the green, which helps tremendously with club selection. Sprinkler heads on the fairways are marked to the center of the green, and cart paths also have yardage plates. 150-yard poles are quite visible on most of the par fours and fives. Red, white, and blue flags indicate the day's pin placement on each green. All these course amenities help to provide each golfer with all the information they need to make an accurate club selection and help to facilitate fast and efficient play.

The bentgrass greens, which are of varying dimensions, are quick, but also soft and receptive. Undulations, with a few exceptions, are gentle in nature. Most of the fairways provide ample landing areas, with mounded rough and desert area on either side. Overall, Painted Desert is very playable, with slope ratings at 138 from the tips (6840 yards) and 128 (6323 yards) from the middle tees. The front tees play at 5711.

Painted Desert is a fun round of golf in Las Vegas. With a beautiful clubhouse and lounge, it is a great place for outings or corporate events. Views of Mt. Charleston , Sheep Mountain and the Las Vegas Strip, provide vistas that rival those of the best golf courses in the valley. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Its location, just off 95 at Ann Road, and affordability make it a local favorite. Here you will find a golf course that can only help to bring out your best rather than accentuating your worst. If you are looking for a course that is more player friendly than a lot of the Las Vegas golf courses, Painted Desert deserves your full attention.
