The Frys.com Open is one of the Fall Finish tournaments on the PGA Tour. The golf tournament this year will be played from October 11-14. This tournament is played near Summerlin in Las Vegas, NV and is hosted by the TPC Summerlin and TPC Canyons. Both golf courses are located very close to each other and make for easy viewing of the golf tournament.
This golf tournament has attracted some of the biggest names in golf including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk. As this tournament has matured, so have the hotel options in the area. Many of the golfers choose to stay at one of the premier resorts that has been developed in the area.
Tournament goers often have a difficult choice to make about where to stay during the tournament. This decision has become much easier in recent years with heavy hotel construction in the area. The addition of the Red Rock Hotel and Casino to the area has brought a piece of the Las Vegas Strip to Summerlin. At a cost of over $1 billion this is the most lavish resort ever built off the Las Vegas Strip.
The front entrance of the property is a series ponds and waterfalls that speak to the elegance of the property. Once inside the guest is greeted by earth tones of brown, red and orange. These colors were chosen to represent the beauty of the nearby Red Rock Canyon.
Hanging from the ceilings are lavish chandeliers of Swarovski crystal, and marble is laid throughout the resort. This hotel is currently working on attaining the prestigious Five Diamond Rating from AAA. This is a lengthy process, especially for a hotel that is less than a year old, but Red Rock will definitely achieve it.
One of the official hotels for the golf tournament is the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort. Built on 54 acres of ground, this resort is the closest to the TPC Canyons, the course that will host the Fry's.com Open. Walking into the hotel lobby, guests are greeted by classical music falling from the overhead speakers. You almost feel like speaking in a hushed voice as to not disturb the mood.
The JW Marriott has a wide variety of rooms to meet your needs. Each of the rooms was designed with a European flare and elegance. They have single rooms and larger suites to accommodate groups. Once again, the resort has decided to go with earth tones for the bedding and color schemes. All of the rooms are fitted with marble bathrooms and jacuzzi tubs.
The casino here is smaller than most but they have a wide variety of games to play. This more intimate setting is part of what make the JW Marriott such a unique resort to stay at. They also have a wide selection of restaurants to choose from, including Shizen, a sushi place, and J.C. Wooloughan's, which is an authentic Irish Pub.
For a little more relaxed atmosphere, the Suncoast Hotel and Casino is the perfect place to be. The Suncoast was built by the Coast organization which caters to the locals market. The property has been designed with the family in mind. There is a movie theater, arcade, bowling alley and bingo parlor on site.
The Suncoast also has it's own fully functioning showroom that features some of the biggest names in show-business. Each weekend a new star will grace the stage of this intimate theater. Past performers have included Susan Anton, Debbie Reynolds, Air Supply, Christopher Cross and Tower of Power.
You won't find any lavish frills at the Suncoast, but the staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. They have a wide selection of restaurants to choose from. This is a great place to have a drink after the tournament, and listen to the local live bands that perform each night in the showroom.
All of these hotels are located close to some of the best golf in the city. Badlands Golf Club, the Arroyo at Red Rock Country Club and Angel Park Golf Club are a few of the courses located nearby. Watching the best players in the world strike the ball makes you want to play golf even more. Bring your sticks and catch a round between tournament rounds.
The Frys.com Open is very popular in Las Vegas. If you are going to be looking for accommodations you need to book early as these hotels will typically sell out. The golf tournament has some exciting things planned and you won't want to miss this tournament.
