Desert MtnThe Professional National Championship (PNC), formerly the Club Professionals Championship, for the Southwest Section of the PGA of America tees off on July 31 to August 1 at the Renegade at Desert Mountain Golf Club. This is a unique opportunity to showcase the best players from Southern Nevada and Arizona.

144 golf professionals will converge on what has been called the toughest golf course in Arizona to battle for a chance to play in the PNC Nationals in 2008. The Renegade Course at Desert Mountain by Jack Nicklaus will be the host of this years Section PNC. This was the first of many golf courses that has since opened at the private country club.

The Renegade Course is quite unique in that every hole has two flags, a white and a gold flag. On several of the holes there are two greens. The Gold Course is considered to be the hardest of the two flags. The Renegade opened in 1986 and has received local as well as national accolades. Cameron Ludwig, PGA Professional says about the two flags " this system allows players of different skill levels to enjoy the golf course at the same time. Players could play the gold tees and the white flags or just the opposite. There are so many choices the course could never play the same two days in a row."

The top quailifers from the section PNC will move on to the National PNC where the Top 20 players will earn a berth in the 2008 PGA Championship. This is the real icing on the cake, getting the opportunity to play in a Major Championship is the dream of every club professional.

"To host a section Major is such an honor." says Ludwig. They have been preparing the golf course for weeks and things are finally starting to come into shape. The golf course will play around 7,400 yards for the professionals.

Ping is the major sponsor for the Section PNC and has always been a big supporter of the PGA of America and its professionals.
