Known for his distinctive railroad ties, Pete Dye has been designing golf courses for years. He has been heralded as the "father of modern golf course design." During the early part of his career he took a trip to Scotland that would forever change his attitude about golf course design.

After this trip to Scotland he incorporated more pot bunkers, rolling fairways, small greens and of course, his signature railroad ties. It has been said that Pete Dye builds the only golf courses that can burn down.

Pete Dye has been quite prolific in the Las Vegas area. He has five golf courses in Las Vegas, NV. The three golf courses at the Paiute Indian Reservation are some of his finest creations. Desert Pines Golf Club and Royal Links Golf Club round out his Las Vegas designs. Each of these courses has a distinctive feel but they are very similar. You will find expansive fairways and numerous small bunkers.

Other golf courses that Pete Dye has designed include Glenmoor Country Club, TPC at Sawgrass- Stadium Course and Kiawah Island Resort- Ocean Course.
