The Saddlebrook Resort

The Saddlebrook Resort is located in Tampa, Florida just a short 30-minute drive from the Tampa airport. It is within driving distance of Busch Gardens, The Lowry Park Zoo, the Florida Aquarium, various beaches, and only 90 minutes from Disneyworld. While there is plenty to do around Saddlebrook, the real treat is to be inside and experience everything a true Florida Golf Resort has to offer.
Opened in 1980 and renovated in 1996, Saddlebrook provides a relaxing, stress-free environment. Whether you are attending a conference at one of Saddlebrook’s 34 meeting rooms, or just in town with family and friends to get away, you will be taken care of like a VIP. Unwind in a full-service European spa. There is also a 500,000 gallon “Superpool” to take a dip in after a workout in the state of the art fitness center. If relaxing in the spa or “Superpool” is not your thing, then take trip out to one of the 45 tennis courts or one of the two Arnold Palmer designed championship golf courses.
The two courses at Saddlebrook are the aptly named Palmer and Saddlebrook courses. The friendlier of the two will be the Palmer course. It is a little more wide open off the tee and navigates lakes, streams, and ponds while still providing ample landing space for all tee boxes. The real challenge of the Palmer course will be the greens. They were redesigned in 2004 and are well-guarded from all approach shots. Most will be multi-tiered, putting an emphasis on accurate iron shots into the greens.
The Saddlebrook course is a cypress tree-lined course that will be, in general, tighter off the tee and flatter from tee to green. Finding the fairways are key, as there are lagoons that come into play on multiple holes. The greens on this course were also renovated recently in 2006 and will provide a tough test to anyone not in touch with their short game.
Another unique touch to the Saddlebrook Resort is the fact that once you are inside the grounds, cars are not allowed. It is considered a “Walking Village” where you valet your car before you enter and get around the old-fashioned way. That could sound intimidating to the older crowd, but everything is within a short walking distance. And for any long treks across the resort there are always golf cart shuttles to escort you and your family or friends, to where you need to be.
Saddlebrook is most well-known by conference-goers as a hot spot for corporate gatherings. However, the best way to thoroughly enjoy the property is to experience it with your closest buddies out on the golf course. With 36 holes on property; there is at least 8 hours of golf to be played each day. Follow that up with fine dining at one of Saddlebrook’s amazing restaurants and some nightlife and entertainment at T.D.’s Sportsbar or the Tropics Lounge, and this is one sizzling vacation spot that you cannot afford to pass up.
