The Grand Niagara Golf Course

An open, undulating landscape with tree-lined fairways and glittering ponds awaits you at the Grand Niagara Resort's - River Golf Course. Designed by the celebrated golf course architect Rees Jones, The River Golf Course is an 18-hole 320 acre jewel next to the Welland River. It offers a challenge to some of the top players in the world from the Championship Tees, yet still exemplifies the Jones philosophy of variety and playability.

Ranging from 5,737 to 7,425 yards, the golf course opens with wide, forgiving holes and gets progressively more challenging as the round unfolds. Start to finish, it is a terrific layout with no weak holes and a number of extraordinary ones. While the greens at Grand Niagara are not overly large, many are two-tiered - a Rees Jones trademark. Most of the putting surfaces are gently sloped and contoured, roll true but not too fast and are very golfer friendly. No goofy mounding or 100-footers here. Additionally, the greens are readily visible on approach shots and “hold the ball well, thereby rewarding good iron play.

No matter the level of play, some of Grand Niagara’s 130-or-so fairway and greenside bunkers will come into play. For the most part they are deep, well drained, very playable, strategically positioned (for all tee box positions) and an integral part of the look and playability of the course.

Unlike many new designs, shorter hitters, seniors and high-handicappers will not be punished with unreachable 400-yard-plus par-4s when playing from the white tees (5,737 yards). Similarly, the 5-pars are visually stunning, offer generous landing areas, present a variety of risk-reward options, and are very fair for all.

The Grand Niagara Golf Club will eventually expand to include a hotel, condos, time-share units, restaurants, a winery, spa and fitness center, and a second golf course - a Greg Norman design. Until then, the River Golf Course at Grand Niagara will offer the visiting golfer the challenge and drama of a "major championship venue" only ten minutes from the excitement of the Fallsview Casino and Entertainment District.
