Classic Club Is A Must-Play

After another successful year as the host site of the PGA Tour’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, the Classic Club is offering more reasons than ever to visit their championship course. Several positive changes both on and off the course have been revealed and are not to be missed.
Guests will have a hard time overlooking the three-story 63,000-square-foot Tuscan Village-inspired clubhouse that recently opened at Classic Club. The new clubhouse features a full-service golf shop, members-only lounge, snack bar, locker rooms and other first-class amenities. Beautiful views of the Arnold Palmer-designed course and a cascading waterfall can be admired from two restaurant locations at the clubhouse, offering both casual and upscale dining experiences. The new clubhouse also makes the Classic Club an ideal facility for golf tournaments, weddings, banquets and group meetings with complete indoor and outdoor packages for 10 to 400 people.
The clubhouse is also home to the new Rattlesnake restaurant, which offers guests both highly acclaimed cuisine by premier chef Jimmy Schmidt and pristine views of the golf course. Jimmy Schmidt opened his first Rattlesnake restaurant in Detroit, Mich. in 1998 and has since set new standards with his creative cuisine, exceptional service, and professional catering. This same quality is now experienced at Rattlesnake at Classic Club, featuring organic ingredients used in modern American cuisine five days a week for lunch and dinner.
Adhering to the advice of PGA Tour players and the general public, Classic Club has made several improvements to the course. The most obvious change is a new tee box on the eighth hole, which Tour Players actually play as the first hole in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Other more subtle changes include the seventh green, which has been raised to keep balls from rolling into the surrounding water as well as repositioned bunkers and a few re-sloped greens.
Fairmont Hotel & Resorts will make its first entry into the Palm Springs market when it breaks ground on the Fairmont Avanterra hotel in 2009. The hotel is a part of the $2.5 billion environmentally progressive, master-planned community called Avanterra and will be located adjacent to the Classic Club golf course. The hotel development will offer 300 rooms and 125 Fairmont Residences, Fairmont Gold concierge rooms and lounge, a variety of dining outlets, 26,000 square feet of indoor function space, as well as outdoor event areas, and a 45,000-square-foot Willow Stream Spa. Fairmont Avanterra is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
Classic Club opened its doors in January 2006 as the host site for the PGA Tour's Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. It was designed by the Arnold Palmer Company and the PGA Tour as a par 72 that measures 7,322 yards from the back tees. Classic Club is located in Palm Desert, California, which is about 100 miles from both San Diego and Los Angeles and only about 15 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport. For travelers looking for other activities, there is much more to do in Palm Desert than golf. Nearby attractions include casinos, the Wineries of Temecula Valley, The Living Desert, the shopping district at El Paseo, and also outdoor activities such as the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the Indian Canyons and Jeep Tours. Whether you come to golf or just to get away from the daily grind, Classic Club will be a true breath of fresh air.
