classic clubWith a temperate climate and lots of sunshine, California is home to over 1,100 golf courses. This large state encompasses much of the coastline for the Pacific Ocean. The PGA Tour visits California several times a year and the first stop on the tour is at the Classic Club in Palm Desert. The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic is played on this and several other golf courses. The Classic Club was designed by Arnold Palmer and features large landing areas and rolling greens. The golf course is managed by Troon Golf which means you can expect to see great golf course conditions and excellent customer service. With sets of tees the golf course can stretch to over 7,300 yards from the furthest tees. The surrounding mountain ranges makes this a unique setting for a golf course.

As you move North, closer to Los Angeles the Industry Hills Golf Club stands out as one of the best near this large metropolitan city. There are two golf courses located on this property, the Eisenhower and the Zaharias. Both of these golf courses have been a popular destination for visitors and locals alike for the past 25 years. The Eisenhower is the longer of the two at 7,211 while the Zaharias measures 6,826.

The Eisenhower course is a traditional par 72 golf course that features long newly constructed greens. This whole complex underwent massive renovations during 2006 and opened to rave reviews. The Zaharias is not as long but tends to be much narrower than the Eisenhower. Both provide a great challenge and will test golfers of all skill levels.

The most temperate climates can be found in the northern part of the state. Located just east of San Fransisco is the Greenhorn Creek Resort. This golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II and measures 6,749 yards. This golf course is framed by both leafy trees and reeds that surround the numerous water hazards on the golf course.

This golf course also features some dramatic elevation changes that culminate in the par-3 13th hole. Although not long at only 150 yards, this is certainly a photo opportunity. This golf course will require you to work the ball in order to score well on it.

California is a great place to play golf anytime of the year. Great golf course conditions and variety of layouts makes California perfect for vacation.
