Superbowl XLII - ArizonaScottsdale, Arizona

Planning to golf in Scottsdale on Super Bowl weekend? Think again, unless you've already got a tee time reserved.

"All hotels and golf courses in Scottsdale and the surrounding areas are sold out for Super Bowl weekend, so it's almost too late if you're planning a trip now," says Alex Isaac, Managing Partner- VP Sales & Marketing for Golf Adventures.

Isaac's advice is to schedule a Scottsdale golf trip before or after the Super Bowl / FBR Open weekend. Rooms and golf packages will be more available at better rates. Plus, there are many other events to enjoy in Arizona's warm winter climate in January (the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Show and college football's Fiesta Bowl) and in March (MLB Spring Training).

If your heart is set on joining the Super Bowl party, Isaac says you may still be able to find a room at a premium price in Scottsdale or you can stay further out of the area where lodging is more available. There will be parties all over town, so it may not matter where you put your head down at night.

Here are some of the highlights for the weekend of Feb.

* Super Bowl XLII

The biggest game in town, Super Bowl XLII will be played Sunday evening (Feb. 3, 2008) in Glendale, AZ, at the newly enshrined University of Phoenix Stadium. Live music, bars, and restaurants will be rockin' and rollin' in Sportsman's Park and Westgate City Center immediately surrounding the stadium. The rest of Phoenix and Scottsdale will be a big party zone as well, and not just because of the Super Bowl. Visit the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau for a list of scheduled events and parties.

* The FBR Open

TPC of Scottsdale golf course The FBR Open is a HUGE local event that draws crowds in excess of 500,000 people. It has turned into a social extravaganza where people come to party and socialize as much as to watch golf. Sponsored by The Thunderbirds civic/charitable group and commonly known as "The Greatest Show on Grass," The 73rd FBR Open golf tournament will take place January 28 - February 3 in Scottsdale, AZ, at the TPC of Scottsdale golf course (pictured here Just as the tourney champion sinks his final putt, Super Bowl XLII will be kicking off at around 4:18 PM local time. With the Super Bowl and FBR Open finale coinciding on the same day, Sunday is going to be one big bash for golf fans, football fans, and party-goers alike.

* Lingerie Bowl

Does the thought of women in lingerie tackling each other excite you? If so, then fans have a third option on Super Sunday: Lingerie Bowl V (or "The Ultimate Catfight" as it's affectionately known). Victoria's Secret meets John Madden in this championship football game of the Lingerie Football League (LFL). Lingerie Bowl activities in Scottsdale will feature live DJs, celebrities (such as Lingerie Bowl announder Jenna Jameson), and autograph/photo opps with Lingerie Bowl models and players.

If you already have plans to be in Scottsdale and Phoenix for the Super Bowl or The FBR Open, enjoy the excitement of a sport's fan dream weekend. Otherwise, look forward to some world-class golf and many other exciting events scheduled this upcoming winter/spring in Scottsdale and the Valley of the Sun.
