McCormick Ranch Golf Club

Normally on an early morning after a late night at Fox Sports Grill (NCAA Basketball championship game), I would choose the tees playing about 6500 to 6700, but today, I was playing with 2 sticks (0 and 6 HCP). We played McCormick Ranch - Palm Course that reaches over 7000 yards. Needless to say my score was not to my 13 handicap, but my expectations were pleasantly exceeded and, as a matter of fact, down right blown out of the water.
We teed off right on time as a 3-some with a nice dew on the ground. As the dew disappeared the greens really gained some speed and rolled approx 9.5 on the stemp. I did not realize how much water was on this course! Really nice! I did not find it on the front nine, but flirted with it often on the back nine. There are some nice lines in this layout designed by Desmond Muirhead. The par threes are all long. I would suggest playing #8 up just for the fun of it. The par 5's were only reachable if you crushed your drive, and even then they made you think (I love to see guys' wheels turning on a par 5). The par 4's had a nice variety. The best thing about our round - we finished in 3 hours and 40 minutes, and were not pressured one bit.
Boy, did those enchiladas taste good with that cool beverage in the clubhouse. Looking at the scorecard, I'm just glad I can't count that high!
