tpc scottsdaleThe TPC Scottsdale Stadium golf course was specifically designed to host the FBR Open on the PGA Tour. Each year more than 500,000 fans line the fairways to watch the best golfers in the world compete in the desert. This golf tournament is the largest golf spectator event in the world.

The TPC Scottsdale is located near Bell Rd. and the 101 Highway. This golf course opened again for play on August 28th after undergoing an intense maintenance project. During the 5-week closure, the golf course replaced all the tees and fairways with new turf. Periodically, golf courses have to replace the grass to keep the course in great condition year round.

Tiffany Nelson, Director of Sales and Marketing, describes the Stadium Course as a "Mild Desert Golf Course. There are numerous mounds around the golf course that keep the ball in play." This course is not as severe as other desert layouts in the area.

The 15th hole is one of the most scenic and dramatic holes on the entire golf course. This hole measures 501 yards and plays as a par-4 when the professionals play the hole during the FBR Open. Resort guests will play this hole at 558 yards as a par-5.

Every shot on this hole will be impacted by the lake on the left hand side. This lake runs the entire length of the hole and the green is located in the middle of the lake. The best play off the tee is down the right-hand side, mounds will push tee shots back toward the middle of the fairway.

If you manage to hit a long ball you can try for this green in two shots. This is an island green and you will need to be extremly accurate with your second shot. The best play is to lay-up short of the green in the fairway. Be careful of the bunkers that surround the green as they can be very difficult to get out of.

The 16th hole is the shortest hole on the golf course measuring only 162 yards. This is also the most popular hole during the FBR Open. Huge grandstands are erected on this hole and typically this is the loudest hole on the course. Fans line up to cheer the possible hole-in-one that is made on this par-3 hole.

There are several large bunkers on this hole that will gobble up any errant shots that miss the green. The five bunkers that surround this green remind players of little pot bunkers found in many Scottish golf courses. These bunkers are very difficult to get out of and need to be avoided. The green on this hole is not very large and steep slopes push the ball away from the hole if hit toward the edges of the green.

Like most TPC golf courses, the Stadium course gives the average player a chance to walk in the footsteps of their favorite golfer. The customer service and golf course conditions are second to none in the golfing world. Playing the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course is a great chance to hit the shots you have seen on television.
